Intro
Hello! I'm Sam, a postdoctoral researcher at the TTK, RWTH Aachen , Germany. As a member of the cosmology research group led by Julien Lesgourgues , I actively contribute to groundbreaking science missions, including the the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey and the Euclid Consortium. I joined the DESI collaboration as a PhD candidate at University of Barcelona in Spain, working under the guidance of Héctor Gil Marín and Licia Verde . My doctoral research was recognised with the Thesis Award of the Spanish Astronomical Society . I continued this research as postdoc at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh working with Florian Beutler , where I developed the Web-Halo Model . I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at RWTH Aachen, where I contributed to the Kilo-degree Survey (KiDS) cosmology analysis.
My primary research focus lies at the intersection of observational and theoretical cosmology, with a particular interest in the universe’s large scale structure mapped by galaxy surveys. My work is dedicated to distilling robust cosmological information from these surveys using accurate analytic models of non-linear structure formation, shedding light on enigmatic phenomena such as dark energy, dark matter, and inflation. For more info, feel free to explore my current research projects and selected publications, as well as recordings of my talks.
Beyond my research, I am passionate about science communication and public outreach, for example, I served as a co-chair of the DESI Education and Public Outreach committee. You can discover more about my outreach initiatives here.
